Accessibility
- Website pages validate
(The W3C website has HTML & CSS Validation tools) - Loads quickly
(People are unlikely to wait over 15 seconds for a page to load) - Website displays correctly in various browsers
(Safari, Opera, IE, Firefox etc.) - Easy method of navigation
(Consistent throughout the website) - Content easily readable
(Font size and colour contrast from background) - Turn off Javascript & Flash and test again
Search Engine Visibility
- Unique meta descriptions for important pages
- General content uses keywords / phrases
- Content correctly formatted using heading tags
(Using keywords in headings) - Link between content pages within page content
- Unique titles for each page
- Format of URLs is search engine (& user) friendly
- Images have alt tags (also important for accessibility)

Once you are ready to launch
- Submit your website to directories such as DMOZ
- Write & submit articles relevant to your website
(include your website details and brief bio) - Promote using social marketing, Facebook, Twitter etc
- Start offline marketing (where appropriate)
- Track your website using Google Analytics or similar
